Shul | Kesser Maariv Congregation Kesser Maariv was founded in 1867 in downtown Chicago. After the Great Chicago Fire, it rebuilt, and eventually moved to both the South and West sides of Chicago. In 1935, Rabbi Zev Wein, father of Rabbi Berel Wein, was appointed Rabbi of the West Side location, and it moved to the North Side (East Rogers Park) in 1955. Due to shifting demographics, the Shul sold the building in 19889 and reopened its doors in Skokie on December 31, 1993. Under the leadership of Rabbi Louis & Rebbeztin Saretta Lazovsky, Kesser Maariv is a friendly shul dedicated to Torah, Avodah and Gemilut Chasadim. With Daily minyanim, regular shiurim (Rabbi Moshe Solovechik has delivered a weekly Parsha Class since 1994), an active Women's Council, and Chesed committee, Kesser Maariv also welcomes many visitors due to its proximity to several hotels, and a hospital. Please contact the office for more information, or if you are planning a visit. | |
